Darwin Centre: The National History Museum

The architect envisioned a light, airy space surrounding the cocoon structure at the heart of this landmark structure. Creating a contemporary enclosure, while meeting the client’s light transmission requirements, Novum used a three layer, ETFE AFP-System with a reflective screen print on the top layer. At each gable end, Novum engineered an interface to allow access for a cleaning gantry. The museum remained open to the public during installation; a challenge Novum was able to overcome by using rope access methods in lieu of heavy industrial equipment.
