The architect’s design objective was to create the most attractive, transparent, curved lobby wall ever built in Chicago. To maximize transparency, low-iron glass with a non-reflective coating was used for the glass panels. The structural support for the 44 ft. tall curved wall is provided by tension cables and each glass panel is held in place at its corners only by oval patch fittings. The unidirectional vertical cables provide additional transparency as all horizontal structural elements are eliminated. This stunning glass cable net creates a nearly seamless transition between the interior and exterior of the building.
