Novum was contracted to develop a transparent roof structure above the rear entrance of this refurbished mixed use complex in Central London. The roof area is prone to snow drift accumulation and potential power outages. To solve this, Novum proposed an air filled pillow (AFP) system with three identical size layers of ETFE and inlet valves on both the top and bottom chambers. Should the pillows deflate, the three ETFE layers flatten to reinforce each other and help prevent the materials from stretching. When power returns, the top and lower pillow chambers quickly re-inflate to restore the system to its original form.
